You must ensure that the buds are completly dry before you put them into the jar. Any mositure will cause them to mold. Even if you plan on storing them over the summer, I still think a person should keep check on them once a week or so. Just to be sure, but once you're made it past the first 2 weeks of curing and there is no mold or excess moisture, you're pretty much in the free and clear of any risk of rot.
