curing and preserving?
When i buy an oz, i place it all in a large, vaccumeable bag to cure (cause its usualy real fresh...off the vine fresh) I then take out tiny buds as i need them...allowing the weed to cure as a whole. Around 4 or 5 weeks, it starts to taste real good.

I don't use plastic bags for curing. I just use airtight mason jars. I cure only homegrown, not bought weed as curing it further would be pointless. I dry my fresh herbs for around 5-7days, place loosly in an mason jar, open jar twice, every 12 hrs, then let it cure further for about another 7-14 days. Depends on when I get around to smoking it.
I prefer a short cure over long cures. I like a nice, fresh smoke.

so if you usually buy like a quarter or something from someone your usually straight to just leave it in the bag w/out having to cure it? I usually do the same thing except I use an old perscription tube to seal off the air then just open once every 3 days or so.

Yes, I have never cured bought herbs before. I never felt the need really. When curing your own, homegrown, is something I feel the need for, for all those months of hard work. I want it to reach its full potential. A bought bag from a dealer is just like, bud. I didn't grow it, or put any help into it, so there is no care for me to cure it further. It's ready to smoke, so I'll just smoke it.
Kind of hard to explain I guess. To say the least, I want my hard work to be primo. A bag is just another bag.

cool deal, well what about if you plan to keep it for a long time like throughout the summer, theres no chance it will go bad or form mold just from sititng there right? If anything it should just turn into shake and burn quicker right.

Even if you plan on storing them over the summer, I still think a person should keep check on them once a week or so. Just to be sure, but once you're made it past the first 2 weeks of curing and there is no mold or excess moisture, you're pretty much in the free and clear of any risk of rot.
