Who set the standards for pot prices?

All of my smoking career i have sat back and wondered who was it that informed the whole world of prices for bud

I mean wat u pay for bud and wat other people pay are two different things as you could get ur weed from a friend cheaper than the standard price...but who made that standard price...and what about inflation, wouldnt weed just get cheaper if the prices stay the same, and if someone says to u that the prices have gone up, are you gonna believe them. I guess thats wat u get in the drug industry cause ther arnt any officials....

I really need to get to the bottom of this so could everyone post their thoughts or know what happened back then when someone decided to start selling this lovely herb?????????

The dealers and growers set the prices. The greedier people are, the higher the prices. Whenever i decide to sell bud i sell it for only slightly more than i bought it. And people are always so thankful cause its cheap. Hell if i have less than a gram sometimes i just give it away. Its almost worth it seeing how happy you make someone.

The price of weed is tied into marketfactors like supply/demand, cost of production, and (importantly) inflation. A grower/seller has to try and maximize his capital by selling the lowest quantity and the highest price the market will bear. In Portland, that tends to be 40/8th; more than that and buyers go elsewell and less then that you're not going to make a decent profit.

Pretty much, minus the inflation part. It's one of those things like real estate and oil that don't necessarily move with the inflation rate.

I've never been aware of standardized weed prices. Way too many variables, including just how much your dealer likes you.

The price of weed is set by the same thing that sets the price for most everything else. Supply and Demand, and of course the attitude of the merchant.
