extra hours of darkness - problem?

    hello everyone!

so my plants are about three weeks into flowering and things are going as well as can be hoped (two happy healthy budding females  )... I do have one problem this weekend and was hoping to get some advice from more experienced growers...

My plants are getting light from 8AM-8PM...

but I will have houseguests this weekend and will need to go from stealth to superstealth...

the result is that I will probably need to shut everything down at about 6PM, plunging my girls into darkness two hours earlier than usual (and for two hours longer than usual until 8AM.... )

I'll probably have to do this Saturday and Sunday before going back to normal on Monday...

any advice on the best way to handle this?

    thanks all,
    TD

I don't think they'll flip out, they may droop for a day or so afterwards, but 14hrs dark is better than 14hrs of light (IMO) while flowering. Be safe and LOCK THE DOOR!!!!!

Well from the time range and the time you say you'll leave the lights on I dont think it'll be that much of a problem.

OK...Not the best thing but shouldn't effect much.
It is possible but very unlikely that the yield could be slightly effected.
    But barely,even if it is.

It's fine you will have no problems from the extra dark. Just don't let the humidity get to high or to hot in there or they may transpire and that could give off more odor then normal. That is all I can think of to warn you about.

thanks zandor for setting the record straight, i was about to say..... Think of outside/mother nature...the sun cycle gets longer then shorter as the months wear on. In flower, I start flowering at 12/12, after a week move to 11/13, after 3 i go to 10/14 where i stay til the end. it just seems more natural to me, simulating what the sun really does.

also, doesnt the plant actually grow flowers during the dark cycle? isnt a longer dark cycle better for flower? This is what the consensus was at OG before it went down, so i consider it fact

Well if you want to copy nature. Then you need to start flowering at 14/10 and work your way down to 10/14 toward the end.

hi all - thanks for the replies...

I'm not worried about the temporary increase into extra darkness (for today and tomorrow - see the first post above for details) - because like everyone said this resembles the natural cycle and should be fine..

My concern lies in switching *back* to 12-12 on Monday... I just want to make sure this wont shock or confuse their little plant minds! (they're very cute but not too smart...)
