Running's good for your lungs. Any cardiovascular exercise is. It gets you breathing in air and exhaling out carbon dioxide more quickly, exercises those muscles, gets you coughing and clearing out phlegm and other stuff you need to keep from building up. It gets you working major muscle groups in your body, which help you build strength and keep fat off, and it lowers blood pressure and gives you an endorphin rush. (At first when you tax your heart/lungs, your BP and heart rate go up with the burst of exertion, but then they go down and tend to stay down lower in well-exercise individuals.) It helps you get a better, well-oxygenated blood supply to your brain, and it's a natural antidepressant. So keep up that running!\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"
