soil growing - use a pan instead of a pot?
hi, i read somewhere that i can use a 6 inch deep tray/pan to grow in soil instead of a pot...the reason behind this is you can decrease the vertical height of a stealth box this way. the roots grow outwards...can anyone verify this? i don't want to start only to find that this doesn't work or whatever...thanks!

Only 6 inch deep? No way. The root system of cannabis goes very very deep, and the massive sativa's of africa can get root systems metres deep.
6 inch is no where near enough depth.
Get 5 gallon buckets, and make sure it's got good drainage.

not 6 inches, but ive seen good results from people growing clones and switching to 12 12 soon after the plant has rooted in trays, as plants do stay smaller and dont need as much root growth. just out of interest, where did you read that

ever since I started the hobby of growing marijuana, I\'ve become far more addicted to it, than I am or have ever been of the product.

I don't see why not. the plant does not know if it's in a deep or shallow container. bonsai people cut the roots and stick the plant back in with new potting soil. I never use drainage anymore. I use closed containers and the plants are fine.
It depends on the plant. Indica would be easier since the plant is naturally short.

Go for it, I put a cali-o in a clear container that was 6"heigh x 10" deep x 15" long, and it produced very nicely. no pics sorry. It was like a mini tote, any size is available

I think it'd be awesome. You could LST the hell out of it, which you'd probably have to do anyway.
Make sure to have plenty of drainage. And I suppose you'd have to be carefull to watch that the soil doesn't dry out.
Post pics and a log if you do it.
