Pentagon Releases 9/11 Crash Video

WASHINGTON (May 17) - The Pentagon on Tuesday released the first video images of American Airlines Flight 77 crashing into the military headquarters building and killing 189 people in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The images, recorded by Pentagon security cameras outside the building, were made public in response to a December 2004 Freedom of Information Act request by Judicial Watch, a public interest group. Some still images from the video had previously been leaked and publicly circulated, but this was the first official release.

The airplane is a thin white blur on the video as it slams into the Pentagon at ground level. Almost instantly a white flash and a huge orange fireball appear on the video, followed by a tower of gray-black smoke. One of the videos shows a Pentagon police car driving in the direction of the impact point shortly after the plane hit.

Traveling at an estimated 530 mph, the hijacked plane plowed into the southwest side of the Pentagon at 9:38 a.m. EDT, shortly after two other hijacked airlines were flown into the twin towers at the World Trade Center in New York. The attack set off fires in a portion of the Pentagon and killed 125 people inside, in addition to the 59 passengers and crew and the five men who hijacked the plane after it took off from nearby Dulles International Airport.

Debra Burlingame, whose brother Charles was the pilot of the American Airlines plane, said in a telephone interview that she realized Pentagon officials were compelled to release the videos under the Freedom of Information Act. But she said the images provide no new information about what happened that day.

Ms. Burlingame said she doubted that release of the videos would do anything to dispel the many conspiracy theories, including the claim by some that the Pentagon was hit by a missile. The Pentagon videos provide only the briefest glimpse of the plane as it hits the building; the images were recorded on cameras designed to record license plates of vehicles entering the Pentagon grounds and were too slow to capture the airplane's approach.

The Pentagon had previously refused to release the videos, saying they had been provided to the Justice Department as evidence in any criminal proceedings.

"We fought hard to obtain this video because we felt that it was very important to complete the public record with respect to the terrorist attacks of September 11," said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch.

Cheryl Irwin, a Pentagon spokeswoman, said families of the victims of the Pentagon attack were not consulted before the videos were released on the Pentagon's Web site.

i saw the video on the news... it was kinda dissapointing... just like a white blur... it wasnt out before because it was being used as evidence


i will say taht it was hard to see but i rlly dont think that its a government cover up... its just too big... think abt watergate... that was tiny compared to this and it was out in seconds... so imagine a giant consperasy like 9/11

Ye but you have to look at it from the other way around aswell, if America had nothing to do with it at all, then you have to salute the Afghans for bringing down an 1,300 ft concrete structure reinforced with steel, by flying a jet liner in to it, then about an hour later, it collapsed in to a neat little pile with minimal damage to the surrounding area, at the rate of free fall no less. Considering one of the biggest, and most famous structures in the entire world was brought down, not once, but twice, with almost demolition squad accuracy, and then the centre of intelligence was hit by a plane on the same day, to which they only released a small video, showing the point of impact, and a few blurry frames of sumthing hitting it, then planned it so the 6 tonnes of engine would vapourize, and the wings disintegrate without making any damage to the outside wall, is pretty fucking amazing for a man on dialysis in a cave, and I've also got to love the concern of the general public "Who did it?!" "The afghans!" "Right thats all I need to know! I won't investigate this any further".

I am so glad though that they can't release any type of evidence to us, regarding the attack on friendly soil by the common enemy, TERRORISTS!, but tell us the culprit, least we got some1 to blame, thats democracy right there, not like those damn commie nazi fuckheads aye lads! If the government had NOTHING at all to do with it, something much more complex led up to the events that ensued, than a couple of Afghans with boxcutters went a bit psycho one day and ploughed planes in to buildings without another motive than a Jihad! There were explosives, cuz not just buildings, but physical objects, in the physical world don't behave like this if you damage the top of the building, because beneath the top of the building, is about 1,300 or so feet of steel girders and concrete, this won't just collapse, as its been holding the weight for a long time now, but if you chop the legs off so that theres a sudden jolt to the supporting beams, gravity takes hold, and it collapses under its own weight. If you were to hit a big structure on the top, with a lot of force, it doesn't take a genious to work out if the force was sufficient, it would topple the building, or break a section off, but to hit something at the top, for it to weaken the support beams at the bottom, is absolutely fucking amazing from a physics point of view, spooky action at a distance, this despite the fact jet fuel doesn't burn at a high enough temperature, and even if it did it would have to have burn at this temperature long enough to actually excite the steel atoms enough to malleate, causing stress to one part of the structure and then loosing balance.

You don't need to concern yourself with who did it, this is where guesses come in to play, but the government, doesn't even release any more information than, plane, hit, big bang, building weak, fall over. This is the United States government, they manufacture bombs, and other feats of engineering, yet they fail to go in to detail about one of the few assaults made on them on there own soil, to there most important building(s), and a civilian attack also. The civilians don't care enough, look at JFK, heaps of evidence showing that the story released by the government if not entirely false, full of uncertainties, and every1 just goes fuck it! can't see it for another 75 years, by which time theres an entirely different generation, and New York has long forgotten about WTC, and all the time, you say to ureself as you flip through history books, 'Yeh but that was back theeeeeen.......THIS is NOOOOOOW! I mean theres no wars anymore and stuff, we're the Martin Luthar King, Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi new age democratics!' Time goes by so slowly you barely notice it, and its easier to tell a big lie than a small one, simply cuz you need more evidence to unravel the big lie, and with all the restrictions put on information, it takes the select one to actually be arsed to pull it all together, but then cuz its only one man, every1 thinks he's a psychopath, cuz hey man, 50 million people can't be wrong, and by the time the information takes its course of natural evolution and is released, it reverts back to the illusion of safety of ''Yeeeeeeh but this is NOOOOOOOW!' and all the culprits are dead, so everybody wins! I'm not sure why the release was a big story, since the images had been leaked a few years back.

Is one to believe that the Pentagon only has one security camera ...

Heck, even mini-markets often have more than one camera running.

And the Pentagon camera appears to be poorly maintained, since it has the wrong date ... note the timestamp in the one frame says 9-12!

I was really hoping to see the other camera views that supposedly exist, but to date have never been released.

Most likely it really was the plane that hit the building, but I can certainly understand why many don't believe it due to the limited crappy video available ... the longer the coverup continues, the more people who will wonder...

My guess is the U.S. government is covering up the other videos of the plane, since perhaps they fired missle(s) on the plane just before it hit the Pentagon...

Why would they the government cover that up if the missile(s) didn't work ... simple, because they don't want people to make the connection with missiles ...

According to numerous sources, missile(s) are what successfully brought down Flight 93 in Pennsylvania...

It's nice to believe the passengers tried to stop the hijacking of Flight 93, but the truth suggests otherwise ... the U.S. government had by that time scrambled fighters (confirmed) and reportedly shot it down.
