It is because Americans owned guns that we were able to gain our independence. Far more people are killed each day with more common things such as cars than with guns. I guess outlawing cars would be the smart thing to do then, right? Of course not, teaching responsible ownership of cars and the safe handling of them is by far a smarter thing to do. In America there is a gun registration program in most states and criminal background checks in all before you can purchase a firearm. The number of crimes committed by people with legally registered handguns---- 0....that's Zero. Point is, people who commit crimes with guns gained them through illegal channels and would gain such weapons even if they were made illegal. Just take a look at Washington DC for an example, handgun ownership is not legal there and it has one of the highest rates of handgun violence in the US. Making guns illegal will not solve the worldâ??s problems....or even make a positive difference. The only thing it will do is take the ability away from good people to defend themselves in an effective way.
I am OK with you not owning a gun, or even liking guns. But please don't try and take rights away from me just because you feel this way. If you did you would be no better than the DEA. They feel MJ is bad and contributes to the death and ruined lives of many people, so they fight to keep it illegal and imprison those who feel different.
Hurting others is about a choice not a weapon.
You choose to do it and would do it even if guns did not exist.... Just look at the Roman Empire...They didn't have guns and killed many thousands.
Stop blaming a piece of steel and start holding people accountable for their actions.
Is alcohol to blame when someone drives drunk and kills a mother and her babies? No. The person driving the car is. Should we outlaw all Alcohol? Or should we increase the penalties for such a crime and enforce it?
We should all have our free agency to choose right from wrong. And we do. Laws are like door locks, there to keep honest men honest and would in no way stop people from committing horrible crimes.
I really don't understand how someone who thinks that the government has no right to tell them what they can or can not do with themselves in regards to consumption of drugs or other things can say that the government has the right to imprison those who have done nothing more than own a weapon. Which is what would happen if they were made illegal.
I may or may not own guns but if I did it would be so I could protect my family and self from anyone who would like to hurt them or me. Is that wrong? No.

You might be a grower if - the person behind you in the checkout line picks something off your sweater then adds zig-zags to their purchase
