Any shooters in here?
Well, for one, this was meant to be a mature discussion about the responsible use of firearms. OK, I'll let you slide with "there is no such thing as safe gun ownership" as accidents can and do happen. However, there is also a responsibility involved and that is a whole separate factor.

I'm not making a judgement that civilian ownership of firearms is right or wrong. But while I have the right to possess them and those that shouldn't can also acquire them, I will protect myself and my family.
Aside from this, firearms are machinery. They are crafted to perform a function and each model varies in its details. I can take a Van Gogh and smash you over the head with it, does that take away from the artistry? Should we now ban all picture frames because a person makes a decision to use it in a way that it wasn't intended?...I said my piece, so now, I hush.
