Didn't the Republican Party arise out of the south, and wasn't it comprised largely of racist white men and successionists? Ah yes, it was. That would then make the Republican Party primarily responsible for the millions of deaths during the Civil War, and thus make them the biggest killer of Americans ever, moreso than every terrorist organization on the planet combined.
