I have lost patience completely. I've been telling him for the past 4 years that such aggressive use of the controls will get him nowhere. I was very much like that when I started, but I picked up on my mistakes and rectified them. It is as if he wants to drive shit.

And I'm not really into cars, if and when I get enough money for a decent RC vehicle, it will either be a helicopter or one of those cool Tamiya trucks, but shit the price tag on them things........

I took my friend to a specialist shop. They had everything he needed. There was plenty of fuel, all reasonably priced. There was even people on hand to give expert advice.

He's seen that car can go 75mph, and without reading the rest of the specifications says "I don't care - I'm having it"

In the end, I had to email them asking a very stupid question (fastest car in stock). I felt silly asking and knew I wouldn't get a response.

If he can't control a small toy RC car, one that runs on 4 AA batteries, has the most responsive handling, and reasonable speed, without crashing into everything in the way, how the fuck is he supposed to control a 1/10 scale or even 1/8 scale high speed fuel car, with brakes and gears to worry about?

I'd rather take his money and persuade him to smoke weed with me, than watch him drive it straight into a wall and wreck it. But this is the highly intelligent bloke who says weed is banned for a reason.

All my friends piss me off equally.

slow and steady wins the race. like i said, my mini-t does 50mph, and a nitro does like 70-80, but i still owned it. show him that turning isnt all one control. there ir "proportions" in the speed an turning, to turn the wheel just as mutch as you think it needs. same with the speed, its not just on/off speed, there is over 400 steps of speed for most r/c cars. slowly pull the trigger to find your speed. and if you cant hit full speed in an area, DONT GUN IT, its not worth it. i should write some books on my hobbies.

    EDIT: maybe i shoulden`t.

not to mention the R/C nitro sound of death. lol. you stick the glow plug in, or you pull the starter, or however your starting system works. and then you hear "click click click click" occasionaly followed by a "pop, fizzle, sizzzzle" fryed. electrics are way more fun =)

I should write some books on my hobbies! I've already told him everything I know, and it just hasn't worked, because he refuses to put it into action. I have even demonstrated.

It might sound like I'm talking about a 10 year kid, but this bloke is almost 21 and I've known hom for almost 12 years!

If anyone here knows Gran Turismo 3, the Escudo, and the Test Course track, that is our typical race. No corners so he likes that! Except when we take that turn at 450km/h, he flicks the steering all the way, and hits the wall (because he turned so sharply into it) rebounds and hits the wall at the opposite end, while I maintain a nice smooth turn!

Just refuses to race me on the Complex String. Probably because of the time he had an F1 car, and I had a Mini Cooper and still won.

In fact he causes me to mess up. I brake for a corner, he slams into my rear at crazy speeds and then says I hit him. Give us real RC cars and both will be destroyed due to his driving!

Man I gotta take myself to Japan and race someone who can actually give me a challenge.

whats your other car like? i used to drive 1/64th scale R/c cars, they were about 2 inches or so long. custom paint, suspension, tires, rims motor, resistors, boards, etc.

My first gas powered one is a Kyosho Ford Mondeo BTCC version 1/10 scale bought in 1995. It doesn't get used anymore and needs parts replacing to work.
