First Plant Problems, Please Help my Baby

Hey everyone, first off I would like to thank everyone for the wealth of information on this site. It has helped me thus far, and now I have a beautiful plant of 10 inches...now Im also having a few problems I was hoping to get a few opinions on. My plant is under 2 CFLs, 1 45 watt warm and 1 23 watt natural light, and a flourex 27 watt bulb, total lumens 5700, it is still in the vegetative stage of growth, it is in a pot 10 inches diameter, about 5 inches deep, under 24-7 light, with a fan, the 2 CFLs are about 6 inches over the plant and the flourex is angled to hit the lower leaves.

Im starting to have a few issues. The first is that the leaves are drooping- I've read this can be from over-watering, and I guess this is likely the case...Im going to try and dry it out, no water for the next 7 days...but Im worried that it could be the pot is to small. Does it sound like an appropriate size?? Also the lower new leaves that are growing are light green or even yellow - one little leaf looks like its going to die. Im not sure whether this is a nitrogen issue or lighting, or maybe something else altogether. I have the plant in a good potting soil, and added 4 fertilizer sticks from HD w/ a high nitrogen content (21-8-6).

This pic is from Wed, when I watered it

This is today, see the droop

Any advice for this first time grower is much appreciated, O and the strain is Big Bud if that helps. Thanks in advance everyone

pull the fert sticks out, use powder you mix with water(not right now though!), and drop the lights to within 2 inches, get a small fan blowing on it, and wait till it dries out! It looks like you are watering way too much, as it dries out, the leaves will perk up(at least 3 days from now), as it dries more they'll start to droop again(still could be 4-5 days from now) just wait till it looks thirsty. as for the fertilizer, the sticks, don't do the same job as the mix, they slow release nutes to the soil, which can be uncontrollable and unpredictable, pull them out and water it with just water for the next few waterings, then mix up some powdered fert in half strength, water it with that.

Thanks 4x5, I went ahead and lowered the lights...the fertilizer sticks, however, seem to have disintegrated since i put them in on wednesday, or i can find them, im kinda hessitant to dig around for them because i dont want to hit the roots of the plant, i put in less than the recommended amount for the size of the pot, Im not going to water it until the leaves perk up, when I do water what exactly is the right amount to be giving my plant? thanks

First Plant Problems, Please Help my Baby

The bottom leaves on my plant are having some problems, I'm thinking that this might be from nitrogen deficiency but I wanted to post a pic for another opinion.

    [attachment=o65520]

I want to address this problem, but Im having some trouble picking out a good nutrient plant food for vegetation, Im limited to where I can go, Mostly Home Depot Loews etc, what would be good to help and where can I get it? Someone told me a product called EcoGrow was good, but I didnt see it at Loews.

    Thanks for the help

    1. Stop watering and feeding the plant. Just stop.

    2. When it dries out, water once lightly then get it out of that container into a bigger one. THose fert sticks have dissolved and now you need to add soil to dilute the crap. Try and gently pull the soil from the fert stick location if it wasnt near the stem. Use Schultz Rooting Hormone powder liberally around the are you remove the contaminated soil.

This should take about 2 weeks.

Your plant is too small to be getting nutes at this stage. Your tinkering with the nutes at such a small size is why people kill their plants. Its an herb / weed and it can grow on its own.

Your lighting isnt helping, the warm lights are almost totally useless.

They would do better under an 18/6 light schedule. I promise.

Get the lights closer to the top. You dont need sidelight at that size, you need more light at the top. Replace the warms.

    It will grow nice tomatos.

I thought the warm CFL had more of a red spectrum, should I be using that for flowering? The pot that my plant is in right now is 10 inches diameter, what size should I have it in? No more food or water, got it. I'll move the side light to be above the plant.

When do u introduce nutrients to the plant? Im going to leave it alone now, but I want to be prepared to take care of it. Thanks for the advice =)
