Not everyone watches American Idol. I certainly don't. I strongly oppose the principle of creating pop stars like that - music should be about the music, and who created the music, not their clothes or their hip dance moves. The fact that nine times out of ten someone else produces their music (a pop/rap/r&b song wouldn't be much if it weren't for the production) irks me since a lot of these mainstream millionaires are just singing their trite, dumb, overrated, superficial balads over what really makes it music (if you can call it that) - the production. Every time I'm switching channels and there's some video on, it's likely to be some 22 year old female singing the same old bland, unoriginal lyrics (And sometimes, in a burst of UBERTALENT, they might even be playing their own guitar - a bland, unoriginal four chord progression, recycled from hundreds of thousands of lame tunes over the last few years)..

I know not everyone does, but the amount of people that do kills me... and the worst part is like you said, we already know what's going to happen to them. They will go from Fox to MTV. It's sick. What's worse is ClearChannel bought out the raido too so that's fucked. (OH did you see univeral got sued the other day by NY for buying airtime... it was a pretty big case) But the fact that people can watch MTV see that shit and then want to go on to a game show to aspire to be that. It's like watching COPS and hoping you get arrested...

Mod for this area??? This area and sexuality is basically a Mod free zone when it pertains to the issues and doesn't have nudity, racial comments, slander.... basic rules of decency I suppose you would say. Me and nich used to tare each other a new ass and no one ever stepped in on that....I sure don't plan on it!!!

LOL...that may be why some in the lounge don't come down this way....things are a little tighter up there as far as how you refer to people. Down here you call someone an ignorant son of a bitch for their opinion on a debate...it flies...in the lounge...maybe, maybe not; all depending which mod sees it. I've spent a little more of my time at cannabis.com down here so I'm a little more forgiving on that shit than others may be.

When I post down here on issues my ass is up for grabs just like everyone else, if I'm talking rules of the house though, that's a little different story.

Hi Gumby! Now you see? I was so busy in the lounge I missed reading this earlier...and for some reason just about everytime I go to reply to you my phone rings..I understand about the frustration on what is going on in the world and people being more interested in Britneys 2nd pregnancy than the price of oil. Its kind of like the thing with people believing a lie faster than the truth also..my ex was so good at that..and I would try and warn some about what he was pulling and they would go right back and tell him..then when they recognized where it came from they would look so stupid! Like people that scam others...they know exactly what to say..when to say it..its their JOB...reminds me of politicians in a way...well I am rambling..I am not the best at multi-tasking and I have to go make some potato candy and petits..I wish more with the same level of intelligence of the regular posters on this forum would join but until they do..I hope you,Psycho,eg,pisshead and the others keep us informed. all I want to know is how many season of american idol can you people take before you realize that they all sucks and have no musical talent??

it's like havinga beauty contest and finding the ugliest people in the world... once, just once could ONE of the fucking people on that show know how to play something, or understand what a key is...

it honestly has to be one of the worst shows on tv and it sickens me people can actually like that shit... I guess Backstreet and Nysnc and Spears did the same thing though... it's just sad that people like that are your IDOL...

shelby, I can assure you I can point you in the direction of many more singers better than Bo... they are out there, it's just they don't get on tv or popular. I do want to clear up that I don't think it's wrong that people like American Idol or the singers on it... I mean I like people that aren't popular or the best at what they do. I just do not like the ignorance the show casts. The fact that they don't give credit to the music behind the Idols. The fact the music isn't even a part of the show.

I mean hell I watched Making the Band on MTV, but I knew it was a joke, I didn't idolize the people on it. It should be there for enjoyment and as a muse not as something we should aspisre to be and think is what america is. My biggest complaint to the whole thing is that people use to be admired for their knowledge and their ability to express it. But know it just seems like we admire the dumbest people. America has some of the poorest school and education and people wonder why? Could it be because the televison have programmed our kids to believe that having a Crib worth $1,000,000 and a music video is 'cool'.

Honestly look at t.v. Our leader comes on it and cannot connect verbs and nouns. Millionares flash their money, cars and houses on music videos. What kind of motivation is that for the youth of america to try to aspire to become anything but stupid and ignorant? I mean it works for our president and pop stars....

If you want to bring high concept to the masses, you have to wrap it up in something shiny. Instead of posting the info as it is and expressing your opinion, try coming up with story or bring up a discussion about 1984.
