i did read, and i'm not so sure you should rely on one source.
marijuanna laws changed significantly many years ago.
when i lived there from '94-'97, i can't say that it was "VERY socially acceptable. It is very common to be offered marijuana at parks and other local places.".
that was not my experience.

i think this is a serious exaggeration.
i'm not saying don't go; Alaska rocks! the herb is great! go! visit!
just check a few more sources on laws/culture first.
