First thoughts...

OK, I haven't read the FAQs yet but will after this. What I'm looking for now is just some first impressions.

My situation is that I'm voluntarily going dry for a bit, so I figured what better time to start growing...and what better way to celebrate if/when I'm successful!! I'm not too familiar with the area I live in, so I think I'm going to try and grow at home.

Now, I plan to grow on my balcony. I live on the first floor. The patio area is about 5ft x 6ft x 12ft (WxLxH). In front of the patio is a 'divider' that comes up about 5ft or so, so you can't really see anything on my patio unless it's over that divider.

My concern is smell. I believe the patio will provide enough light and space. However, I'm worried that as the plants mature, the smell will increase, and this will woft through the nieghboorhood. I really rather not have someone come snooping on my deck b/c they think they smell herb.

So, is the smell going to be THAT bad? I may consider indoor growing but I gotta continue to warm the wife to that idea.

The people above you will almost definitely smell something as the plants start to mature. Why not try growing inside?

some potent strains have little or no smell ... my Cinderella99s have NO odor, whatsoever, and is perhaps the strongest sativa on the planet, or so some say ... ask around a bit ... I have a neighbor 300 feet away that says she smells my pot plants (4, indoors) ... but that fat bitch could smell a fudge brownie at 50 miles ... :smokin:

I'm working on warming up my wife to growing indoors. She's not happy that I want to grow at all. But if I can get her past her hesitation, that may be my best bet. Thanks for the insight.

lighting would be a big concern.... you may get son on the patio but does it ever get shaded say by the walls or the balcony above you?

to answer your question... your neighbors would probably smell it esp. the one above you

indoors is probably a better idea... outdoor you run a higher risk of bugs etc, as well as a nosey person popping their head over to take a peek

Yeah, tbh, if your gunner grow, the safest way to do it is inside where no one can see anything apart form you, and it means you can have better control over the climate.

Tell your wife that its cheaper for all of you if you grow it, cos then your not buying of people... and you know exactly what your plant has had put on it and you'll know it good weed. (Some growers seem to think pissing on the plants gives them extra nitrogen, i just think they like knowing people are smoking their piss)

i agree with lip
if you grow indoors it will be out of sight then and as lip said it would be hell of a lot cheaper than buying weed from a dealer
