I'm starting to think somebody's out there spreading misinformation. but no, it's not legal here, and now that the Conservatives were voted into government it definately won't be (the prior liberal government, while I hate them, planned to decriminalize it, but couldn't because they had a minority government). But thankfully you won't face actual jailtime just for posession, only dealing. Overall the police are pretty easy-going here in B.C. and most of Canada (but mostly here), though unfortunately I still see the police helicopter flying 200 feet over my neighborhood every day with the infrared camera on the bottom. Kelowna has a huge amount of grow-ops, so they're all gung-ho about busting them. But the chief here said in the paper a couple months ago "we could be a grow-op a day and we'd still be falling behind" lol. Overall though they won't bust you just for toking, me and my friends have smoked joints and pipes in the middle of downtown at 2:30 pm on a sunny day and nobody ever cared.
