    Anyone got advice?

I have 7 outdoor seedlings that are a couple weeks old in styrofoam cups, 100% potting soil with holes poked in the bottom, no ferts and i water thoroughly then wait a while(few days) until they're as light as they were when they were dry, then I repeat. I am planning on transplanting soon into 1 gallon pots with a perlite/rich compost mixture. I will be finishing in 3 gallon pots so I must transplant again and perlite always seems to make the soil very shaky and loose, hard to stay in a clump. So,

What amount of perlite do you recommend putting in these pots to have adequate drainage and still have a tight enough mix to avoid everything falling apart when I pull the babies out to put in their final 3 gallon pots?

    any advice appreciated

When growing in small cups you should not use perlite unless you can tend to them like... like... shit.... like

    ummm

Well you need to keep a very close eye on small cups cause they dry out fast...

Small cups dry out very very fast and perlite is not necessary... perlite is for aeration....

a 20% perlite 80% soil mix in a 1-5 galloin pot is GOOD..

    YOU are LOVE

hey man - if its worth your time & effort invested, why not also invest in a good grow book, it'll answer all your questions and then some. You'll be glad you invested in yourself and your garden. Its also easier to look it up in a book instead of waiting for someone to maybe tell you the right thing on a web site. You can find reviews of the books before you select one. I liked Jorge Cervantes book the best out of the five that I bought. :rasta:
