depends on the size of the light. The more powerful the light, the further it penetrates the canopy. For example, if you have a 70W hps and one plant SCROGged, you should keep it under the screen until you think just the bud will be above. I would only let about 2-4 inches of growth occur over the screen. If you have a 1000W HPS, you are looking at about 12 inches of penetration and should let the plants grow over the screen after about 8 days or so of flower. That will make them considerably taller.

One thing i should say, there is little reason to use any kind of "tie" method. Just use a screen and push them underneath. Once you think you will reach your target height, just quit pushing them under and let them come through.

You may be thinking about this a little wrong also. Instead of thinking about it as 9 tops, think of it as grow sites. If you have a "top" that will consist of 20 or 30 mini sites that grow together to make one large bud, you can just lay that entire bud over on its side and presto, you have 20 or 30 sites that are all perfectly distanced from the optimal amount of light. They will make a lot more bud then one large bud. Now think of that on the scale of 9 "tops" and you will now see the entire theory behind SCROG.

Ask away on SCROG. I have done it a large number of times and have tried all kinds of methods. I actually will grow no other way anymore. It is too much hassle to deal with the falling over and shaded buds of standard grow methods.
Bachelorpads Reviewed by Bachelorpads on . about SCROG this is my first SCROG and have a few questions. first off the strain is mazar fem at about 13" tall, i have been training her with the screen and also been tieing her growths to the screen, heard this from ICMAG. how long until i should stop training her to the screen, she is at one week flower. i figured i will train up until the second week of flower. is this a good idea or should io stop tonight. i have been letting her grow about 3 inches and tie that shoot back down, i have about 9 Rating: 5
