    Where are y'all?

Where are all of you Texas folks? It's been really quiet on this board, and I think it'd be fun to get some conversation going.

I'll mention here that I've smoked this week for the first time in about two decades, and it's been really nice. Originally got some herb for medicinal reasons to help my sister, who's sick from chemo, and it has made a big difference in both her appetite and her nausea. It's had the opposite effect on me in appetite (which is a good thing), but that may also be because I've been coughing a lot from the re-introduction of smoke into my lungs after so very long. May have to get a vape if I plan to keep this up. Do cigarette filters filter out the THC in weed?

    Hey Bird,
I hope your sister is feeling better. Chemo is no fun, I've witnessed relatives going thru that.
I've never tried a vape, but I hear good things about them. A bong would filter the smoke some. I'm sure a cigarette filter would do the same thing for herb as it does for tobacco, but I'm not sure how you would make it work.
I am currently out of herb, which sucks. I sure could use some on this rainy Saturday.

hey bird hope your sis is feeling better after smoking i went through the same thing with my wife she had pancreatic cancer and and the only thing that helped her eat was to smoke some herb and the government says it has no medicinal value they need to get real and understand that it has more medicinal value than 3/4 of the legal medicine on the market today ill never stop smoking peace to you and yours tell your sis to keep fighting because that what it is a fight and you have to want to win more than you want to lose

    Ok..looking at your post too

Yes to filtering..since THC is oil based it will cling to anything. Remember trying to get resin off your fingers after cleaning your pipe or bong?

Yeah if the government was not making such a killing off illegal narco transportation and protection maybe it would be legal?

Hey, Oblio! You're not online enough here, and I wish you were because I'd like to visit with you more. If you have any regular online times, let me know when they tend to be and I'll try and get on here, too.

When we were still fixing joints for my sister, and for the limited amount of smoking I did with her, we both had trouble with the harshness of the smoke, and I ended up getting some little hemp filter-paper filters that roll up and go on one end of the J. they definitely helped ease the harshness, and I'm sure they caught some of the good stuff, too, but I was willing to sacrifice that to make it easier for her to smoke. I saw some little cigarette-like filters where I bought these others, but I thought they might filter out too much of a good thing. Anyway, we probably lost some of the THC, but at least smoking was pulmonarily possible with the the filter there!

Did you see I wrote you back a boastful longhorn "tease" over on your Boomer Sooner thread in the Introduce Yourself board? I have a lot of fun razzing OU fans, but the funniest thing is that I really care very little about football. I'm always glad when the Horns and Cowboys win, but I'm even more glad to go read a book or take a nap while games are on.

    Talk to you soon!

Yeah, they probably would. Joints kind of serve as their own filter; a little self filtering, self "resinating" stick that gets more and more dense as you approach the roach. But at least with a joint, you get to smoke the "filter" as you go along. This filter you saw, if similar to what's on a cigarette (synthetic), would end up being wasted "good stuff".

But you complained of harshness. Smoke is harsh because a) it's HOT, and b)because large particles in the smoke irritate our lungs (watch the "shooting stars" rifle into you through the stem of your pipe next time you smoke with translucent glass). Joints do nothing to cool the smoke, but they do filter better than a pipe (which does neither).

The best filter is a glass bong with a MASSIVE reservoir, filled with ice and water. Bubbling smoke through ice water cools it significantly, and catches larger particulates in the burnoff that would get sucked straight through a pipe stem. Cool and smooth.

Oh yeah, quality of what you're smoking will sometimes affect harshness too.

Twenty years huh? Wow. I thought I was doing something coming back from just a year layoff.
