Sounds like they're not getting enough light. You should have some good strong cool white flouros on them right now, only 2-3 inches away from them (maximum distance). Get up to Metal Halide or High Pressure Sodium eventually.

Well this is what I myself do... from the start of my girls... when they get a little older I start to break the stems.. like you take a stem in between your fingers and then smash it just enough to feel it crack.. Ive always done this and Im not sure if it helps at all. I dont wanna give false info and it sounds like your stems are WAY to weak to even think of trying this.. but maybe some superthrive would help you.. or just do what mountain said and get your lights closer...

they need the fan before going outdoors so get them used to it by diverting the wind...iow, give the wind an indirect shot to the plants then gradually move the wind into them, a little every couple days (same for the sun when moved outdoors). otherwise you'll most likely bury them deep to make up for the scrawny-ness which'll bring up a new set of probs (damp off mainly). it's still a bit early for outdoors so you have a couple weeks at least to get em strengthened up...i wait until the end of may.

Put them in a new pot, a deep one and bury it up to about 1/8 inch below the first leave set and it will grow more roots along that stem along with solving your prob and keeping them alive.
