How potent is the smell from a joint?

Hey all. I've been smoking for about a year now, but I've only once smoked a joint. And the time I did, it was in the backyeard of a 4 million dollar mansion in Chicago when I was already completely trashed, so I sort of forgot anything about it. Anyway, I'm thinking of going to Pipes and Stuff and grabbing some rolling papers. I'm a bit concerned about the smell. If I smoke it inside, will the smell be roughly comparable to a cig or a cigar? I mean, will the entire apartment reek? My roommates don't smoke, so I don't want to annoy them. To give you an idea, when I hit my bong, the smell stays in my room if the door is closed, even during a heavy sesh. However, a cig or cigar smells up the whole place.

The alternative is going out back in the alley and smoking. The problem is, I live in Lincoln Park, Chicago, in a very, very nice neighborhood. The problem here is that my apartment is on the ground floor, and there are two units with decks directly above where I would be smoking. Additionally, there are houses all around, and most are probably owned by people with kids who don't appreciate people smoking pot. These houses are all about 25-30 feet away though. SO, my question is, how much does the smell carry? Inside and outside? If I mix in some tobacco, will that help disguise the smell?

Yes, do you actually smoke weed? Weed STINKS, and is NOTHING like a cig at all. Yopu cant compare it to anything, it has its own smell.

If you smoke inside it will stink the whole place out.

And it wont make much differnce with baccy. All you can do it smoke the weed, open the windows, leave it half hour, and then have a fag, then the baccy smoke will over power the weed. But no, you cant get away with it, it stinks!

If you smoke outside it will just fly off. Smoking outside seems the ebst bet for you my friend

As far as a joint goes the smell might actually be less intense than smoking out of a bong.A joint has less smoke coming out of it any way.And try using flavored rolling papers.Juicy Jays are the best when it comes to stealth smoking.They have so much flavor in them you probably won't even smell the weed!

take the carboard from a tp roll or a paper towel roll .....get some good smelling dryer sheets and rubber band the sheets to one end of the roll and then after u take ur hit just blow it through the roll. the dryer sheets act as a filter

While this is a good idea to minimize smoke, it doesn't help with the burning of the actual joint. I've held joints by the window and my place still reeks. IMO, if you're going to smoke inside and you're concerned about the smell, the best thing to smoke from is a pipe. Cap it right after you pull and then blow the smoke through the cardboard thingy or out a window. You'll still need some incense or oil to clean up the smell, but it won't be as intense.

Yeah a joint is more potent than a bowl because you got the weed and the paper burning....buy yourself some freebreeze and make a doobtube.

Here is what u need for some stealth indoor smoking of the jay. I usually dont smoke jays myself but this method should still work.

U need a Small fan ( one that you can set on a window seal)
Your own room
Curtains


Place fan into window , close curtains all the way around fan , so nobody can see in . Now we should have a fan blowing out the window . Spark up the jay and smoke behind this fan , blowing hits into the back of it. Hold they jay close to the back of the fan while your not smoking so that the smoke its letting off is gettin sucked outside. You won't get caught this way , but it does kinda take the relaxation feeling associated with smoking jays. But best of Luck bro.

i do tha same thing and i also put tshirts in tha crevices of tha doors so that tha smell doesnt seep thru...

just close your door and open a window, it wont reek the whole place up if you do this

man i got just what you are looking for so it wont smell anything like weed at all. it works really well and it costs nothing. ok first get yourself an empty roll of paper towls or toliet paper right, then you get some duck tape and rap the outside of the empty roll with it, and all you do is get those laundry sheets that make your cloths smell good and stuff a few of them in the end of the empty roll so its like a filter. so when you inhale the smoke and your about to exhale you just blow your smoke into your homemade filter and its like magic. doesnt smell like weed at all. now you need to do something for me, please dont smoke a joint, go and buy a blunt (either a swisher or an optimo are probally your best choices) and buy some high grade weed and smoke that. this will get you split and higher then most people get, trust me i would know. after you do that you will see what im talking about.

oh and you are on your own for then smell that comes from the weed burning but hopefully this helps out some
