Weed preference - N00b question

If you're willing to waste a little extra weed, then simmer it in butter until the butter is dark as shit and the weed is dust/ashes when you touch it.
Takes 20-45 minutes depending on how much you use.
Took me 15 minutes for 2 bowls worth.
I dipped some store bought cake in it and it tasted really good.

Didn't kick in until 3 hours while I was sleeping and suddenly I'm nearly tripping out while asleep lol! I woke up high and had a pretty good morning. It's probably because I used so little that it took long to hit.

I mean joints hit you hard and quick, bongs take there time and make it worth the wait....Which way is guaranteed to kick your ass every time? If it's not in the tool, then is it in the technique?
