because it doesn't adulterate the taste of the weed, when smoking out of glass, all you taste is the weed... after the green is gone in the bowl of a metal pipe, it starts to taste like shit... i still use metal tho, sometimes glass just isn't the right choice, for instance with my grav. bong or my gas mask, if you put a glass bowl on either, and had me smoking out it, it would crack.. metal just leaves Brands on my fingers when it gets way too hot... (you'd never believe how hot a metal bowl can get when it's hooked up to a gas mask and being passed around between 4-5 people... you can almost see it turn red, literally.)

i cleaned my pipe out with a ziplock bag and some water, just shake it around and then filter the water with a coffee filter and smoke up! but after literally 6 days, not even a WEEK and my pipe was already resinated inside (i could barely see inside when it was illuminated, and it had completely changed colors)
