    Hydro go go

I am going to start a hydro system. but i have a few questions.

1.) If i use a large bubbler system, how often do i have to do a complete flush of the resevior?

2.)How much noise would a small carbon filter setup make? I am not sure what to use for the fan.. so some advice on which is the best and quitest would be awsome.

    you guys are awsome!

when you choose a fan for your carbon scrubber, choose one that will change the air in your room out every five minutes or so. the fans will be sold by cfm, cubic feet per minute. just take the width times length times height and divide by five.

i forgot, flushing your res. it depends on where my plants are in the cycle. but, a good rule of thumb is every couple of weeks, some people do it every week. i don't just because its a major pain in the ass for me. my system holds almost eighty gallons of water.

It's good to do a full res change every 10 day's at least.

If you want a quit fan that works great look for a vortex type of fan. There are a few companies that make a centrifuge air mover that is what you are looking for. They are expensive but worth the price for quality and how quit they are.

    thanks guys.

I realy wanted to start a small, 250watt, closet hydro system and for the small space a 4 or 5 plant bubbler in a rubber maid tub seemed the best.

you don't want to grow 4-5 plants in one bubbler unless they are clones. Roots get intertwined and If you get a male plant, you have to chop off the stem and leave it there in the hole throughout entire grow. Plus from seed you're plants will bush into each other and you will be 1/2 your plant for nothing. I also feel that this type of growing from seed leads to higher potential for hermies...HTH ...lw

Using bubblers...you must have at least a 10 gallon tub or 5 gallon bucket for a bubbler. Small tubs are not deep enough. you need the height, for dwc

and you are right...you will need good ventilation to be successful in a closet! lw

realy?? i couldn't fit even 4 plants into one of the jumbo rubbermaids? No males for me... i stick to fem seeds. I don't have the space to deal with males, or to take clones of of the females.

If you realy think i couldn't fit even 4 in a dwc then i guess i'll go with my back up plan which i would lik to see some one compare with a dwc hydro setup.

Put the air stones in the botom of a 5 gal bucket and fill the bottom with perlite, just enough to be as high as the stone. Then use a soil perlite mix for the rest. Use some soil nutes through out.

I did this wiht one plant before just to see what would happen.. It worked well and promoted fast growth.

This would be a good setup for a firt time grower as it would make it very hard to over water and would bring some benifits of hydro.
