I think it's an excellent idea. But let us not forget the true origins of May Day in the Haymarket Martyrs, five anarchists who were murdered by the United States government after being framed for a crime they did not commit as they were demonstrating for worker's rights. We should be showing solidarity with our fellow workers, no matter where they happen to come from, instead of mindlessly feeding the system which oppresses us all. Shopping isn't going to help anybody, except of course for the capitalists who are profiting off the backs of the immigrant workers who manufactured the products you're buying.

I wanna know why so many 'americans' think it's the right thing to work everyday of the week nad to force your kids to go to school with teachers that are stupid...

Missing a day of work or day of school isn't that big of a deal... I've missed plenty for being hung-over much less for standing up for something... I think the real problem that is coming out from this isn't the effect imigrants have on american it the ability america has had to brainwash everyone to think that they must work every single day of the week and that if you do nothing for a day you are a worthless piece of crap...

They are missing one day ONE, 24 hours, that's it... I'm sure I've wasted a day doing something more worthless than a march.. hell everyday I go to work I think it's more worthless than standing up for a cause... what the fuck happened to this country to think that you must work 24/7 to be an american?

It just seems like the same hatered yuppies had with hippies who portested war and wanted peace... they didn't work for years and no one said let's round them up and throw them out... hippies made jobs out of following Grateful Dead and tripping on acid... what's wrong with that?? Why do you have to work 40 hours a week to be american?? We are spose to be a free country... free to work when ever you want... free to sit on your ass when you want... freedom is merely the ability to feel love for everyone...not the ability to work everyday...

imigrants are only protesting because they feel they have a point and a reason... instead of being irrational and thinking we can just march them back to mexico is just dumb and a waste of thought... why not try to figure out why they are doing it and make america a more welcoming country.

I thnk it's noble for what they are doing... they achieved thier mission and just have to put up with the ignorance of americans who think llfe means work... something I'm sure many people didn't think america stood for...

but you all keep your safe job, go home to your safe house, kiss your safe wife, and tuck your safe kids in bed... give up all your freedoms for safty and don't worry about anything in the real world...

I find nothing noble at all about today..why don't they learn english and do this the right way when coming here...don't disrespect and imo that is what many are doing..and I am enjoying a day of shopping with no hollering kids anywhere (I hope). At least they are standing together with few holdouts (and even they are supporters but still working).

It's part of life....we all got things we don't want to do but have to.
