white tips?WTF

ok so im tryin a lil experiment, im growing some nice middies in this fish tank, and they have been growin pretty good cept one thing both plant have white tips on all the leaves. one of my friends told me this is the cause of over hydration, but i was hopen it wasnt a disease. can yall put some input
