    Gen's 1st EAST Coast Grow

Stork...The stoner Fairy came today. Brought me 4 white widows...So, I thought I would show you the rooting process, I am going to try...at least until tomorrow when I decide they must go in a machine.

this is largely for Gen's benefit...But I used 3" netpots filled with perlite for this rooting experiment...
After these babies arrived...I immediately put them into ph'd 5.8 ROwater w/superthrive. 1/4 tsp per gallon.

I soaked them all evening whilst I figured out what I was going to do with them...I originally was going to root them in 1'x1' r'wool starters just for fun, and to bug Zandor...LOL
but, In order to use r'wool correctly...It must be ph'd/soaked overnight in *ph adjusted ROwater. So I just put them directly into perlite.

    * I checked ph level of r'wool soaking in ph adjusted RO water and levels had risen back to 7...a characteristic of r'wool..I ph down'd the water in the tub down to 4.9...
Now when I check tomorrow; If ph is low, I can add ROwater until ph is 5.6-5.8...when I used r'wool before I would ph to 5.4 and it would drift up a little by evening.

Caught a bummer though...My buddy sent me a Bad bottle of NO-Wilt...I have waited a year to get this product. (Zandor uses and swears by NO-Wilt)...I go to pour some out to mix...and all these globs of algae or something comes blobbing out ...Needless to say, I am not dipping my Kaligirl White Widow clones in booger slime. Instead, I am going to try the dome method for the 1st time...We will see what happens.

OK...Pix are up. gotta go tend to the garden. lw:smokin:

what is RO water? and what is the best medium for a hydro setup, i'm asking here becasue you said that rockwool is hard to keep pH'd since it's in the 7's to begin with, is there a better alternitive? What about coconut fibers?

GK...Here are 2 pix as per your request...How's that=for service?

GG...ROwater is my abbreviation for Reverse-Osmosis...
basically a water purifier that using reverse Osmosis to pressure out all the minerals/metals in your tap water.

Once purified...I add Botanicare's Calmag+ to add back the appropriate minerals and buffers that are necessary to create a thriving photosynthesis...that was a mouthful. LOL

rockwool is either your best friend or

rockwool is either your best friend or you hate it...I think it has alot to do with the type application. As starters for seedlings or clones, It works well for me, but growers I respect...don't/Won't use it...due to it's PH characteristics.

I now use rapid rooters to germ/start seeds.

I am trying to root 60 cuttings in 1x1" r'wool starters to see if I have a better or worse success ratio than with my hydro cloners. Call it boredom or whatever, but I had about 80 1x1 r'wool laying around, and a couple MUMs bursting with branches full of potential OZ's

I think that hydroton(expanded clay pellets) is the best, most versatile and most forgiving Hydro medium...as well as, being reusable. I root right into netpots filled with hydroton, just as I did with perlite in this thread. Like I said before! We will See!:smokin:

    ...so away we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    LATEWOOD ---- : )

Hey Green... i would stay clear from COCO until you feel likeyou understand completely how much water a plant wants.. COCO has given a lot of people trouble who are not watering SAVVY...

ROckwool, hydroton clay pellets..etc.. are all good mediums for hydro..
Aeroponic is the way to go.. : )
