The thyroid is connected to the lymphatic system and is in your neck. It regulates hormones being pumped into your body. While this could be a problem, your problems sound more psychological than physical.

If you don't like your doctor, go to a psychologist. No matter what your personal beliefs are about them, or what so many people say about them (although I believe only about half that say they regularly see any sort of psychologist have been to more than one session). You'd be surprised how much just talking to them can really do. Check it out, and good luck.
