if u can handle it then why did ur grades drop?

shoi Reviewed by shoi on . Caught by Parents So my parents caught me stoned last night. I lied and told them I'd only done it about 15 times. They ended up telling me stories about smoking when they were in high school, and they both mentioned that the years that they smoked a lot of pot were the years that they were the most mentally unstable. They talked to me about how smoking pot makes thc latch onto brain cells and how it can effect learning. I have to admit, I have had a tough time with school lately. They also expressed concern Rating: 5

Exactly, THC dont kill brain cells, altohugh everyone seems to like to think it does... Its only kills the glioma cell which isnt used by the brain and is the only cell to form cancer...

I went to public school up until about the seventh grade; dropped out for five years for God knows why; then decided that I needed to get something -- ANYTHING -- resembling a High School Diploma. So, I went to night school and surprised myself when all it took was two months to take some classes and graduate. I was out of there before I knew it -- ahead of my class -- and acquired what I set my mind to. Keywords -- "Set My Mind To."

Sure, I was still smoking pot and occasionally popping a cubensis cap in my mouth for some trippage, but I didn't let it interfere with my education.

It's a GED, yeah, but it's better than absolutely nothing. It's better than not having tried to begin with.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is only you can decide what you want -- if you want to smoke weed, smoke it; if you don't, then you don't have to. It just seems like you're trying to find a scapegoat for your problems. A learning curve is something few people share.

Oh, and there's evidence that the psychoactive cannabinoids in cannabis kills brain cancers caused by glioma. Cannabinoids induce apoptosis [ programmed cell death ] of glioma cells, and inhibit the growth of glioma in the event they attempt to return.

Glioma, one of the most malignant and deadly forms of cancer known to our species.

    Cannabis, a potential cure?

This raises questions to the potentials of other psychoactive substances that the Christian Bible claims God sees as good and worthy, but the prohibiter's see as a curse.

I don't know if you're a God fearing teenager, but I'll quote 1 Timothy 4:1-5 taken from the KJV.

1: 'Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;'
2: 'Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;'
3: 'Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.'
4: 'For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:'
5: 'For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.'

It clearly states that God has a problem with any prohibition of anything he created.

That includes cannabis as well countless other plant derived substances. They ARE gifts from the heavens.

So, my friend, your parents are wrong. As is the entirety of the body that prohibits anything meant to be good, but instead is overshadowed by greed. Don't let that break you down, because you still have a choice.

Make the right one, but don't let it interfere with your studies.

You cant take anyone's word for it. Youll have to discover for yourself what is bull and what is not.

Your teen ones are exceedingly turbulent ones, it seems a simple truth that it is just the weed fucking things up but your not noticing a plethora of mitigating factors.

They also expressed concern about my development because I'm only 16. I knew most of what they told me already though. My dad said that what he believes happened to him was that he started smoking in HS, and the latched thc influenced his decision making skills heavily, and that is why he continued to smoke. A similar thing has happened to me. I used to be completely anti-pot until I started using it semi-frequently. Until last night, I was convinced that marijuana was a gift from the heavens that everyone should enjoy. I was also nearly convinced that smoking is nearly harmless. However, my parents gave me the biggest reality check, and I am not considering not smoking until college.

This may not apply to anyone, but I thought I should warn people that they could be smoking without guilt due to the thc and pot's ability to influence people's decisions even when they aren't stoned.
From reading this post I can already tell that you are suffering from something i went through as well. It's called assisted apathy (i just made that up but i know you may not believe me about what im about to tell ya, but its how it went for me so all i can do is offer advice.)

basically you blame everything bad and good that happens while you're high on the pot, but what you need to realize is that you are causing the lack of motivation and that YOU are the only one who can reverse the effect. All you have to do is try harder, if you cant study while you're high then only smoke after you finish your homework. if you can stick to a system like this then you will enjoy life alot more, you will be successful and be alot more relaxed and have alot more fun because of the pot.

maybe you should quit, if you think thats really what you need. but let me tell you that what your parents told you is absolutely false, THC is a chemical, it behaves like a chemical, to say that it actually latches onto your brain cells and can alter and control your brain is COMPLETE and utter science fiction mumbo jumbo, i will bet my parents lives on it.

there are actually specific receptors in your brain dubbed CB1 and CB2. They recieve endocannabinoids that are produced in your body naturally, but they are also activated by THC as well as the other psychoactive chemicals in marijuana: CBD and CBN.

the high feeling you get is simply because you introduced a new chemical into your brain, its like putting a filter lens on a camera to add effects, but it does it to your brain instead, so all your senses are now coming through a filter that changes them. One thing this filter does is make music MUCH more enjoyable as im sure you know, it also actives hunger in unique way, making it a treatment for bulimic, anorexic and cancer patients. But the fact that it changes your perception of reality makes it a pleasurable activity because there are certain pleasure centers in the brain that react to, well, to put it simply, variety or a change in surroundings.

So before rethinking your moral attitude towards cannabis you should think about whether you're blaming cannabis for something that you are causing.

I really appreciate you saying this. Its a lot of help. I've been thinking this weekend, and I decided that I am going to continue to smoke, but mostly just on weekends, and not every weekend. The main reason that I've decided to continue is that the thought of smoking weed and hanging with friends while high seems to give me motivation to keep working hard in life.
The cool thing about smoking is it turns wherever you are into the perfect spot in the world.

I disagree with all of you. Weed does make it more difficult to learn. Maybe not so much as an adult, but I know that when me and my friends smoke school is much harder. But after about a few days, I feel fine again. Plus, when I'm stoned I get really detached from myself and feel bad about what i'm doing with my life. But weed has plenty of problems and spreading all of your pro-weed propaganda makes you no better than the government you protest.
