Marijuana 'hot house' uncovered near Azle

    By BILL MILLER
    Star-Telegram Staff Writer

A Parker County man faces felony charges after investigators found scores of marijuana plants growing in a ``hot-house setup'' on his property near Azle.

Charles Wayne Hatcher, 41, was arrested Monday after he arrived home as investigators were executing a search warrant in the 100 block of Cedar Creek Drive, about eight miles south of Azle, Parker County sheriff's Capt. Mike Morgan said Wednesday.

Hatcher, who was charged with felony possession of marijuana, was released from jail Tuesday after posting $7,500 bail.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said the Weatherford-Parker County Special Crimes investigators had the property under surveillance before getting the warrant.

??We found over 200 plants inside the residence in various phases of growth and maturity,? Fowler said.

The mobile home on the property had ``false rooms'' built into it and was secured with burglar bars, investigators said.

They also found lighting systems, empty water jugs and written logs showing the history of the plant growth dating back to December 2004.
``Initial estimates indicate approximately one pound was seized that would bring $3,000 to $4,000 in street value,'' Morgan said.
``Investigators say that hot-house marijuana is generally more potent because of the controlled growing environment.''

    Howdy Y'all,

I posted this because it sounded funny, that the cops would call an indoor grow, a "hot house"...lol.

What ain't funny,is this feller gittin busted .. and I hope and pray for him, that he will recieve the least amount of punishment..meanwhile,I'd be willing to bet-that the cops are allowing known crack and meth houses,to continue to operate and sell drugs to our children,so that they can make more money off of dozens of arrests, instead of just a few. Un-like a meth house,an indoor grow ain't gonna explode or put out toxic fumes,or catch the neighbor's house on fire.

Now then, the other gripe I got-is that fellers like these, ought to re-invest some of their profits into counter-surveillance..something as simple as a night-vision scope and a good tap detector, can go along ways towards finding out if one is under surveillance..I mean to git both soon, even though I ain't growing or doing anything wrong..I just want to improve my situational awareness. Let's face it folks, the cops consider the Constitution a joke and we are all now guilty--until proven innocent.

Have a good one ! :stoned:

    Howdy Torog,

Myself, I think the cops would rather bust some mellow stoner than risk their ass busting some unpredictable meth head. It's a big problem up here in the north and I see now they are required to wear haz-mat suits when cleaning them houses out due to illnesses some have suffered from the chemicals.

Don't get me wrong, the bastards got my plants and stash last year!

    Have a good one!

    Howdy Psycho4Bud,

I hear ya,man ! No cop wants to have to put on a haz-mat suit,it's hot and un-comfortable..whereas walking into a room full of pot smoke, isn't considered a reason to wear a haz-mat suit, also, they know that even handling fresh, sticky buds, will pose no danger-the thc won't be absorbed into their skin, like handling harsh, toxic chemicals will do. Sorry to hear about yer loss,I hope that you are doing okay now.

What do you think of my idea of re-investing profits into counter-surveillance gear ? Did you know that there are detectors that can tell ya if yer house is being bombarded with IR illuminators or laser energy ? It's also possible,to detect whether or not, there are hidden cameras and that one can create a secure zone for conversations, utilizing a white noise generator. Also, when using a cell-phone,if there digital services available, one can turn on the voice privacy feature, which scrambles the conversation. As for home phones, one can git 5.8 ghz phones with digital spread spectrum technology, which not only scrambles the conversation, but also frequency hops too. A reciever for the 5.8 ghz range,is much more expensive for the task forces to git,and some may not be able to afford it. Anyhow, just a few tips for those who have the money to spend on such gear.

    Howdy Torog,

I'm with ya 110%!!! Anything to keep the law out of our gardens is a good idea by me. There is only one problem in the end though; cameras, detectors, etc... will be considered as a "high tech." grow operation and will probably come with a stiffer sentence in the end if ya do get busted. You would think with the murderers, rapists, child molestors, etc....they would have better things to do with their time and our tax dollars!

Well, gotta go....still got about 140 hours of community service to do and boss man is waiting.

As always, have a good one!

Well at least they let him go.Ive seen other cases where a person had less marajuana on them and got way more time than that guy.He should be thanking his lucky stars that he got off with only a fine. They have this really neat book out now called shattered lives. It tells the stories of different families and how there lives were, well shattered over mostly small quantities of drugs. And in most cases they were trying to raise money to help out another family member. If anybody sees this book they should pick it up and find out just how horrible our justice system really is.
