That's a waaaaay too general rule of thumb. There are many other factors that can determine if you'll water before, or after the week is up. Lights, temperatures, humidity, soil mix composition, size of the pot, etc.

yes.. soak your soil the first time... actually every time... the less often you water the better.. but that means you need to drench the soil when you do water... this encourages the best kind of root growth

Question on if this is possible... okay, so heres the situation.... im planning on growing for the first time in my life, i've been telling my self all winter i was gonna start growing, but i was never really serious about it..and although i would like to be, i still cant be because of restrictions. There is no way i can grow indoors, its completely out of the question, and i have a tight schedule so i cant spend lots of time (lots of time being 1-2 hours a day) on my plants.
