    Reusing Peat Pellets?

I have some peat pellets that I used to attempt germinating some seeds. The seeds did not germinate and the pellets dried out again. Nothing was grown in them and there is no plant matter in them.

Can I re-use them to germinate new seeds? Obviously, I'd re-moisten them.

    What strain were you germinating?

I think the main question to ask yourself is why you would even bother re-using them when you can buy 24 for $2 at the good ol' Home Depot.

Because it's a total pain in the ass to get to a Home Depot around here and why waste the gas at $3 per gallon to get something I already have.

    It's $3 a gallon where you are?

Man, it's like a 1.79 at one station where I live in Louisiana. I've ran across a few gas stations that get up to three dollars, but typically don't exceed.

No, they don't go back to their original size, once they're expanded, they stay that way.

As far as the expensive gas, just drive a moped ;-) I spend $3 on gas every week and a half :-D

Nah, it'll just be dry, but it'll still be the shape of a soaked pellet, just a little smaller.

I bought a couple trays of those Jiffy-7 pellets, so I've got over two hundred of the little bastards.

LoL. Maybe I should invest in a hockey stick -- whack a few?

are you sure it was not 2.79?

I think the national average is not quite $3 per gallon.

In any event, it's about a 25 minute drive, one way to the gardening store and even though I know exactly what I am getting and it is a very small number of items and I would be paying cash...I invariably get stuck behind some yuppie fuck or or geezer who can't get their head out of their ass long enough to pay for the 23,396 things they are buying and keep an eye on their kids and talk on their cell phone. THEN, they pull out their credit card and have difficulty getting the machine to read the card. THEN, the cashier has to check their ID, wait for the machine to approve the sale, and get the customer to sign their receipt, put it in their wallet/purse, gather their 23,396 things they just bought and gather their little hellspawn who are running and screaming through the store. THEN, I walk up pay for the one or two items it took me 45 second to get, I pay in cash, grab them and go. I'm in my car and out of the parking lot before yuppie shithead/old geezer even gets to their car.

Then, I have to fight traffic for another 25 minutes to get back home.

    GAAAA!!!

So, do you see why I would not want to go to the garden supply store if I don't have to?
