    Growing Opium Poppies?

I'm actually really surprised McCormick poppy seeds work because they are.. cooked (I think), maybe i'm wrong, but I always assumed they were cooked so they wouldn't yield anything if planted. But I guess we have some evidence it does work. Quite interesting...

Mccormick doesn't cook their poppy seeds,I don't know where you heard that at.I don't beleive the whole low opium poppy myth. You need a big, potent seed pod to produce good seed, and Mccormick has some of the best.I've even planted poppies of of bagels,no shit.I grew only a few, last year, and they were tasmanian, and they were very potent.I'll keep everyone updated on my progress.Oh,and another thing most people, like tokingreg, think that just because they are supposed to be used for food, they are cooked, and won't grow, wrong.I have the proof. It seemed that every seed I planted popped up.They only took maybe four days to do so.They are growing so vigorously. Why waste time and money buying sedds off the net.Buy Mccormick.I really don't think there is such a low opium producing plant.PEACE

The low morphine/high thebaine strain is real, developed because of the demand for oxycontin, I've seen that somewhere before, can't remember where. Bluelight, maybe. But I think the guy on that forum is right, no way they would let their genetically engineered oxy factory used for food.

    Growing Opium Poppies?

hmm, ive got 1 single plant going in my backyard, got the seeds from IZMR poppie or whatever, they were reccomended by del... i think, or rastakaze, i have no idea. they are the Afghani Speacial strain, and i have about 2000 seeds left, but i have no clue on how to properly grow them, or extract the opium, i just planted 1 tester seed, and lo and behold, i get a plant, my only complaint is that the plant doesnt seem to ever really get mutch bigger. rigght now the longest leaves are lik 5 inches. here are a Few questions ive got.

    1. how close can i actually put eatch seed?
    2. if i wanted to plant lots of them at once, do i have to space eatch seed individually?
    3. its Early spring here if i plant this month about how long till i should expect pods?
    4. how many pods per plant?
    5. how mutch opium will i get from my 1 plant, and what would be the best way to take it?

    thanks guys.

a trick to planting and spacing seeds is mix them in with some sand and then spread the sand.

Nice pics, guys. Thanks a bunch.

I'd like to find a nice, secluded area where I could plant a bunch of them.

Is a guerilla grow of poppies feasible, where you only go check on them once or twice prior to harvest? if so, would there still be time to do it now and get a harvest?
