Growing Opium Poppies?

Man,I won't be able to slice my outdoor crop,but I'm gonna cut the pods.When is a good time to cut them down for maximum opium?Oh,and here is a couple of pics of my outdoor patch.I know the quality sucks,but bare with me.Mccormick rules.PEACE

I am interested in knowing the difficulty to grow them indoors and an idea of yield for each plant. I heard they only yield .5-.75 gram per plant of opium. Anyone know? Rating: 5

ya gotta wait like a week after the flower petals fall off.
of course I think you can thin them out and make some tea now but the potency wont be as high.

I have about 10 variteties that I bought off ebay with Gigantheums in there somewhere but they were all mixed up so sometime I am bound to get some baseball sized pods :-)
I think I will go and start another batch now :-)

ummmm,
I am not really even sure but I hear it does work. I am actually still kinda new at this myself as I only have 2 full grows under my belt for these and still I only grew just a few plants each time for decoration. :-)

^^^Yes, I've used dried pods of the internet. Just grind the pods to powder in a blender. A couple shot glasses of the powder (never bothered to actually weigh it) will have someone with no opiate tolerance pin holed and puking. Fresh pods are supposed to be stronger, but I've never tried that. I'm sure you can milk them for opium and still use the pods for tea later, I would guess the tea wouldn't be as strong then, but it will still contain opium. The rest of the plant also contains opium, whether it's enough to bother with I'm not sure.

hmmm I just read on that forum that the yield per pod is about 80mg. with really only about 2 big pods per plant that means it will take about 7 plants per gram of O.

Did it say what size pod would yield that dose? And does anyone have any experience with the "hen and chicks" variety? I've heard thhe contain more opium.

This is a great idea. Im almost sure im going to try and grow.
But ive never used raw opium, its always been processed into a brick.
How would i use it?
