"But after six months everything went to hell again and now the prospects for the future look very bad."

"I don't know what will happen in the future but this situation cannot continue. I stay in my house all the time now as there are so many bombs.'"

"Baghdad was once so beautiful and peaceful. There is no peace now. "

"It is very annoying when people just define us as Sunni and Shia when we are just Muslim. Before the war I did not even know the difference."

I was alittle biased, but hey it'll make you read what else they said... still, looks like choosing between a pile of shit or a pile of crap... We should honestly just let them live free lives... Bombs are not the answer...

"But three years on and you cannot feel any change for the better. Now I see fighters in the streets who are not from Iraq and who tell us we are "betraying our religion".

I don't care whether the new government is Shia, Sunni, or whatever, I just want them to bring some development to our country, to pave the roads, rebuild the destroyed buildings."

I am Sunni and have many Shia friends at college. We all agree that for a stable Iraq we have to connect with each other."

Maybe because he was Sunni and lived the rich life?

Another statement you didn't care to post from the link........

"I would not call it an invasion, I would call it a liberation. But this does not mean it came without a heavy price. The current generation will pay before normal life returns."

Why pick and choose half of the link to make things look ugly? We have the new at 6 for that shit.

    Have a good one!

i said they were slanted in the first post, but I do not think that the rest of what they say defends us going in there... from the whole story it just sounds like they were very happy to be liberated, however are very unhappy at our efforts to help esablish a new government... Which is also why I said it's like going from a pile of shit to a pile of crap... Which is why I also say bombs don't work and that Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity...

Do you know why they have not tried to seperate Iraq and form different countries?? Is that an option? I mean wasn't it the British who formed Iraq anyways?? Why must we force peace upon people?? that isn't how peace is spread peace follows love... if they can be happy with thier own country couldn't that be an option? Why are we making a counrty full of people who hate each other try to be together?? They aren't like us, and shouldn't be made to act like us... that's not what freedom is... freedom's the ability to feel love for everyone and we will never get there with guns and bombs... that is what I am trying to point out... I don't care what war it is... war isn't the answer

when has violence created peace?? it just seems to me to be an oximoron... i mean if everyone loved there would be no need for fighting. there are always two ways to approach a problem.

There is actually two reasons for Iraq not to be separated:

First is the Kurds. Iran, Syria, and Turkey made it very clear at the beginning of the liberation that they WOULD NOT condone an independent Kurdistan nation. Long history on that one I guess!

Second, the Sunni wouldn't stand for it because all of the oil wealth is actually in the territories that are Kurdish and Shi-ite. They would basically be out of the oil money loop.

thanks pyshco, I wasn't sure why they didn't take that into account...

are you aware of what they are trying to get... I've only heard about the newly elected officals but do not know what kind of government they are trying to form. Do you think they could create a country with three independant states??

Kinda like how America was suppose to be set up? Funny how we forget the seperation of state and federal power... (I realized that when I found out 21 is only the drinking age because the federal government pays each state to keep their drinking age at 21)

There are 18 provinces in Iraq in which only 3 are Sunni dominant. I believe that when they drew up their constitution one of the provisions was distribution of the oil wealth so one group wouldn't be "betrayed" as was done during the Saddam era.

As for the actual political system I'm sure it will be, like in the U.S., where differents provinces can self govern as long as it doesn't go against set rules in their "Federal" law, or constitution. They are from a different region than ours and their idea of democracy and ours will surely be different in many aspects but I still believe that this is mile stone for the middle east! If you can take three groups as divided as these ones have been in the past and make a credible government for all, well enough said!
