Yeah, that seems reasonable they would charge you with trafficing. If the cops waited until you were in the middle of the deal to bust you, then someone snitched you or the other guy out and one or both of you had been under surveillance for a while. They'll probably have phone records/recordings on you guys and reports of your movements.

Often, people will get busted and are forced by the cops to lure others into making a drug deal. the reason being, cops will get a guy charged with a crime and tell them that if they can reel in other people doing bigger crimes, the original guy will get the charges reduced/dropped.

So, quite possibly the other guy was the snitch himself and was trying to lure someone into a big drug deal so the cops could bust...well, you instead of the other guy. This is a common tactic police use, of which I have seen happen several times.

If the above situation is true (the other guy used you to get you busted to save himself from a previous charge), then your defense may have an opportunity to pursue an entrapment defense.
