2 20 gallon Aquarium tanks...useful???
You guys won't believe this...
It was raining hard yesterday morning in NYC and the thunder was so loud that it set my car alarm off...as i went outside 2 turn it off, i found wut seems 2 be 2 perfectly good 20 gallon aquarium tanks on the street 4 recycling...this must be a sign from God, as I am preparing to build my 1st-ever indoor grow room!
Could these tanks be useful 2 me?? I want 2 set up a hydroponic system in them...any thoughts? ideas? suggestions? Thanks as always...NinjaMan Reviewed by NinjaMan on . 2 20 gallon Aquarium tanks...useful??? You guys won't believe this... You can use them for various things...
You can buy a little cute pet turtle... and start an aquarium... she'll thank you for the rest of her 40 years.
BUT, regarding cannabis growing:
If you're going hydro, you can use the tanks. Of course! But, make sure you "black out" the sides, so no light gets to the inside (where the nutrient mix and the roots will reside).

no advantages to glass, ans several disadvantages ... like Turtle said, get yourself a pet for them, and use something else ... makes a great ant farm, if you have kids ... :smokin:

thanks for the creative solutions, Turtle420 and Image Reaper,
just out of curiousity, what would you say are the disadvantages of growing in an aquarium? would it hinder climate control? odor? spatial relations?
appreciate all the help guys...

lol seriously mate it would have way to much humidity and the glass would let light through and keep LOTS of heat in.

save those tanks!...they'll come in handy when you're ready to start making clones. many of us use humidity domes for rooting and an aquarium tank would work well for that. if the bottom is glass just turn it over, otherwise it's easy to make a 'window' out of plastic wrap or use any piece of glass that happens to be around for your cover. no worries, we'll help with the details when that time comes...

You can use the tanks... just make sure NO LIGHT gets in... don't want no "stuff" growing in them roots.
The main problem with those tanks is "drainage".
Where will they drain?
That scratches out soil.
And hydro... you can use them, but every connection will have to go through the top, as you can't "drill" or "cut" those tanks.
Get some fishies for the turtle! Turtles like fish... hehehe...
(don't buy expensive fish... as they WILL end up as turtle food)
