Well first off, I'm new to forum here. So hey everybody.
I've been reading posts here and elsewhere and one thing has puzzled me. Some of the things I've read say a plant's sex is genetic but at the same time a number of people suggest there are certain factors (ie warmth) that can increase the likelihood of growing a female. I don't see how this could be if the plant's sex is genetic.

So my question: Is a seed inherently a certain sex or do enviromental factors contribute to the gender?

yeah this has confused me a bit too
but i have heard that the sex is genectically in the seed
but the other thing is if you do have a female you can stress it too much and turn it hermie (both sexes)

The sex of this plant is determined in the RNA not the DNA. Feminized seeds mean they just have a higher percentage of being female then male.

Yes you can increase the chance of your plant being female several ways. There are products you can purchase like Sensi Soak but it's not the same as a female stressed seed from a female plant. You can also use light cycles to increase the percentage of females as well.

Seed in ground keep it under 12/12 for the first 7 day's it pops out of the ground then switch it to 18/6 or even 20/4.

From literature and other findings, it appears that the growth of a male or female plant from seed, except for the predisposition in the gender chromosomes, also depends on various environmental factors. The environmental factors that influence gender are: a higher nitrogen concentration will give more females. a higher potassium concentration will give more males. a higher humidity will give more females. a lower temperature will give more females. more blue light will give more females. Fewer hours of light will give more females. OK yes I was wondering something along those lines. My next question is (and it was just partially answered) at what point in the plants life cycle does it officially become a male or female. I don't mean at what point can the difference be observed, but when does the difference actually come to be (germination? first few weeks? just before flowering?)

The difference manifests in the form of either pollen sacs or tiny calyxes armed with sometimes up to four stigma. Typically this occurs sometime after the production of alternating nodes.

besides th fact of having feminized seeds or using product bought from the store i've read you can also use a estrogen pill from your gf or whoever and that can also help with the likely hood of producing a female plant, you crush the pill in distilled water then you soak the seed/s in the solution and then germinate them ina paper cloth soaked with the same solution, it sounds liek a good idea but to me there have been scientific studies shown that increased amounts of estrogen in today's environment has lowered a mans sperm count dramatically. I am unsure of the actual amount of estrogen found in the end product after you use this process but i surely don't want my troops being affected by this.

one pill in water with the seeds being soakeed .....wont hurt you DOG...lol
