Unfortunatly, the new album sucks and it isn't a natural progression... it's a forced progression. "Hey, we can't think of anymore ideas... so lets try and make our muisic more technical!1" ... "Yeah, remember how everybody made a big deal about the Fibbinochi part in Lateralus? Maybe we should try and make more technical stuff liek that?!" ... "Hey, Meshuggah is pretty technical, lets steal off of them."

Sorry, I won't just listen to ANYTHING. Certainly Tool's new album is not worthy for such praise... but oh it's gonna get it from all the brainwashed fans... except the critics are going to beat this album into the ground. Casue they know what to look for... Yeah, I'm critical about music... Why shouldn't I be allowed to be critical? At least it's not like I'll like any shit my favorite band puts out just becasue it's my favorite band.

So what? THAT'S what. ^

Calling me egotistical from a glorified box because of my bashing of an album I hate... Nobody wants to read it? THEN DON'T. Let this thread die alrady, I've already vented and if you keep it up then it'll stay... which I don't mind, cause it just proves my point even further.
I retract my reply!

after listening to this album again, it really isn't as good as lateralus or undertow. I mean it's good and all, it just doesn't really compare to the greatness of their older albums.
