I not only enjoy the high from marijuana, but i like to collect it as well. I was wondering if there is anything I can do aside from keeping it in air-tight containers which will help preserve it. If so, is there any estimation of how long everything will stay fresh?

It will keep for years in a freezer, but its better to keep it in an air tight container with NO moisture and make sure its in the dark and not in a hot place.

Best thing to do is to vacuum seal it. Whenever I get a really good strain I like to put away a few grams for a later date. I get out the FoodSaver and seal it up. I recently opened up some white widow that I've had for almost two years and it was practically as good as the day I got it.
I've heard that freezing is actually bad for weed. The freezer can dry it out (thing freezer burn) and damage the trichs. Don't know if it's true or not though.

I have this little wooden box, unfinished wood, and I read on here, and it makes sense too, that it dries out the weed very very slowly, and I'm sure it would taste a lot better too.

Putting bud in the freezer is bad... you should put it in the fridge in a dark, airtight container. That should work best.
