Yeah, xanax is the way if you have an anxiety disorder. I use to get real paranoid when I smoked weed with big groups of people, I realise having an anxiety disorder would amplify that. Ive had some realisations recently that have made me realise that there is no point to paranoia and thats how Ive dealt with it.

Toke in the shower, or bath (jamacian hot box) cant be paraoid in a hot shower or bath.

the best thing you can do is talk to yourself and take some deep breathes. try and sit down for a bit before you smoke the marijuana, taking that time to calm down before you toke up. i don't like smoking with other people, so i usually toke alone. put your headphones on, light up a joint and turn the lights down low. make sure you are smoking in a comfortable room, etc. if these thoughts are brought on by smoking the marijuana, you should probably not smoke it. that or look into a prescription drug like clonazepam for mild to severe anxiety disorders. oh and the most important thing is to READ, don't go to your doctor and just let him put your on some drug.

slipknot ... 2mg is a awfully high dose of alprazolam (Xanax) ...
maybe start out with 1 mg ... before you end up under the
table. Xanax has been a godsend ... signifigant regression
of anger/depression/fear of being alive in our kind and gentle
world. If you need Xanax ......

If you have a nervous disposition smoking MJ can really fuck you up. Fear like you've never known before. I've had panic attacks after smoking MJ, having to get home from a friends house would be like life or death. Its a complex of emotions that run through your head, you have little control over it. Its not like your seeing demons but your scared shitless of controntation, interaction with another human. That's what it was like for me at my very worst. I look back on those days and I'm better able to cope and smoke because of it.
You want advice. Eat a healthier diet, you don't have to go nuts, just eat healthy 80% of the time. Work out. Exercise (regular thirty minute jogs). When I went doctor he just threw pills at me which don't help, the side effects make you feel like a drone and it makes you feel like your just exsisting your not taking control over your life and what causes your anxiety. Regardless of what people say even the most extreme anxiety can be manageable. I haven't had anxiety my whole life but in the few years its come on I've learnt that doing what makes me anxious solves my anxiety. I feel like a soilder sometimes, having to face thing's but its a challenge I don't back down from. I get stonger mentally and more confident every day and I don't touch medication and never will.

i used to get really paranoid as well when i smoked, and what i discovered helps is a change in my smoking mechanics
when i first started smoking i used to always try to take the biggest possible hits i could possibly hold. this would give me an intense high quickly, (probably partially from lack of oxygen), which would often be edgy, paranoid, and unenjoyable, and then it would fade much quicker.
now i breath as slowly as possible when taking a hit and take moderate-small sized hits, sort of like sipping at wine, which not only conserves weed, but lets you fully taste the weed and enjoy the smoke. i feel like this way i get a much more sustained high with an enjoyable come up and come down, and i feel like i get all the full effects of smoking rather then just a quick burst and crash like a cigarette

I only get anxious when I haven't smoked in a while. The first time I smoke after being dry for months is usually paranoia fest...worried I'm going to get caught or I didn't get the right stuff or something is going to happen, yadda yadda yadda. Once I get back into the groove, it's all positive vibes.
Best thing to do, just keep telling yourself it's the herb....I said my piece, so now, I hush.
