Diphenhydramine: My first hallucinogenic
I'm sure that almost all of you have heard of Benadryl, the allergy medication. Though I'm sure a smaller percentage may have heard that it can be used as a hallucinogenic drug at higher doses. It can cause very, very realistic visuals so I've heard. The chemical that induces this effect is Diphenhydramine. In America, the recommended dose for adults is 25-50 mg, though people multiply that dose in order to obtain a psychedelic effect. I've taken this medication before for my allergies, and I'm not allergic to it, so it was safe. For further investigation, 2 days prior to the experiment, I took 125mg and went to school. I handled it fine, no hallucinations or anything, just a slight euphoria. So I knew I wasn't allergic, and decided to take it up a few levels. Oh, and just for reference, I'm 178 pounds and diabetic. I also take Wellbutrin (Bupropion), one in the morning, one in the afternoon. I'd stopped taking the med a few days before doing this though.
I've read quite a few experiences on www.erowid.com and a lot of them were negative, but I figured I could handle it, and I could, to some extent. I used the little 25mg pills. Throughout the whole experience, I popped a total of 13. The total being 325mg. At first, I only administered in 200 orally, then about 30 minutes later, I did the rest. I was nervous as shit even though I felt I knew it was safe. I believe that it was my subconscious that was promoting this mindset.
I stayed worried for a bit, until I began to feel very euphoric about 50 minutes later after popping the first dose. I was very relaxed, sinking into my chair. About 30 minutes later, I began to feel the psychedelic effects. This wasn't much of a suprise to me, but it was fucking with my head, big time. The hallucinations weren't full-blown, just mild, actually more of an illusion, meaning that the things that were really behind me were just taking different forms. It was freaky as hell, you know how when you look into a blank or a black part of a monitor or TV screen and you see a faint reflection? Well I was minding my business, and I kept seeing somebody approach me from behind in the corner of my eye and in the black part of the monitor. It startled the living shit out of me, and I'm the type of person that is hard to frighten. It didn't matter how aware I was that it was just the drug, it kept scaring me. I kept telling myself, "What the hell man? It's a hallucination! Relax!" This became a bit annoying, and eventually became very disturbing. I remember having to piss a lot, and it hurt a little bit, but not to an extreme. My mom came downstairs and told me to go to bed. At first, I thought she was a hallucination, then I went to touch her, and it was really her. I didn't look too suspicious, however. I was still able to walk straight and coordinate correctly.
So now, I'm in my room. I kept the lights on because visuals in the dark might be too intense. My room was the weirdest part of it. I never experienced any auditory hallucinations in this, but I would stare into my TV screen, and I kept seeing things and people behind me moving around, no sound. I turned around simply to see nothing out of the ordinary. Then, I stared into it again, and saw a shadow in my room begin to dance. It looked like it was dancing to hip-hop. I turned around, and saw that it was nothing but a shadow of some Febreeze. Then, I looked at the screen once more, and saw some guy walking around, soon to find out it was only a collection of random paraphernalia (clothes, books, games, etc...) in my room shifting into different shapes. It's weird how I didn't get much out of staring ahead into my room, rather than into the TV. All I could see when I did that were some randomly appearing speckles and imaginary lines. I wonder why it only works best on the TV.
Anyway, at this point, I was getting bored and tired. I decided to take my seroquel, which doubles as an anti-psychoactive (I know this because I popped it with weed once and the weed effects began to diminish). I slowly went back to normal, and decided it'd be cool to turn the lights off and play some Gamecube. I was playing Shadow the Hedgehog, and I didn't hallucinate at all. Suddenly, I remembered that a side-effect of an overdose could result in a seizure. I figured that the flashing lights in the game might influence this. So I pressed pause, just so I'd have a dim light in my room to keep me at ease. I eventually fell asleep, with no hangover the next day (today).
The whole time span of this experience was from 11:24 (Time I popped the pill) to 3:05 (Estimate of when I fell asleep). This was a very interesting and memorable occurrence, but I'm not going to use Benadryl recreationally ever again. I'm happy that I didn't do what I was going to do; smoke weed with it. That would have had some drastic effects I'm sure. I've read that it can be unpredictable, like even if I were to take the same dose another time, it could have much more potent effects.
I don't suggest anybody to do this as it will jerk your mind around, a lot.gjpop2000 Reviewed by gjpop2000 on . The chemical in Benedryl is not a hallucinogen. It's a deliriant....and not worth the experience, IMO. Just my 2 cents.

A deliriant IS a hallucinogen. Probably more so then a psychedelic.

LOL, yes they are hallucinogens. If you want to use the literal definition of the word, it's STILL considered a hallucinogen. Deleriants, dissociatives, psychedelics, they are all hallucinogens. Why all of this is posted? In reply to your post and to sugar guys posts? Why? Because this "TAKE ACID TO GET A REAL HALLUCINOGENIC EXPERIENCE!1" bullshit is fucking stupid... MEH MEH MEH TAKE A LOT OF SHROOMS AND YOU'LL BE MORE OVERWHELMED!11 OR BETTER YET DMT!11 It's all drugs...
STFU ALREADY
It sucks that idiots need such emphasis on every word to get it through the thick membrane blocking the recpetors that recieve simplified information to send to the brain. And then somehow... even still... the information STILL gets scrambled and can't be interpreted which leads to a futile attempt for the idiot to reciprocate with some infantile loop-hole bullshit to avoid looking like a complete retard.
I'm sick of it... it makes me mentally ill. And so does this "server".
