    hiya

was just wondering if anyone knows of any medical studies into MJ for chronic illnesses excacerbated by stress.....of which there are quite a lot....
its common knowledge that MJ helps u to chill out - and it seems to bring down stress levels - but there doesnt seem to be any medical research into this area, as there is into pain relief for MS etc.
i have a chronic condition which means that even a small amount of stress - an argument, pressure at work, losing a hand at poker(!) - means i can be in permanent pain for days on end....which means i try to take it as easy as i can would be great to hear if there are any studies out there - if not i might start on at my sis (who's just started as a GP to start one......!)
    cheers

Mary Lincoln was prescribed cannabis when Abe was shot to help her deal with her stress and her grief.

The medicinal valvue has been known for thousands of years...

When the first doctors started working, they used herbs, and cannabis was in allmost ALL of their herbal med's.

    Here's a UK study on blood-pressure:

The research centres on endocannabinoids - natural substances produced by the body - which are chemically similar to the active ingredients in the drug.

These substances are known to make blood vessels relax, which can reduce blood pressure by allowing blood to flow more freely.

"Laurie [iii] reported that in a few cases 'anxiety, which may approach panic, often associated with a fear of death or an oppressive foreboding is infrequently seen, usually giving way to an increasing sense of calmness... to euphoria'. Grinspoon refers to the initial state as a 'happy anxiety' where the experience is internally redefined as pleasurable. Rosenthal et al [iv] report that panic reactions and anxiety are rare, and most commonly found with overdose (particularly from oral preparations), in naĆ?ve users, or in those who do not like the effects of marijuana, and attributed the incidence of anxiety reports with Marinol (dronabinol - pure THC) to the lack of CBD within the preparation. that may explain why nothing feels more relaxing than weed after a good workout or wind-down at the end of the day.
