I think it's more of a shame on our country than thiers... we're suppose to be fighting this glonal war for freedom, yet our preisdent does nothing about it in China and wants to make it look like cookies and milk when he gets here?? How can we go into Iraq and Iran and kill 350,000 people because their dictator killed 1,000ish (maybe) yet we have a rich warm welcome for a dictator who kills thousands a year... have neuclear power.... does not allow many personal freedoms??
Cowardness if you call me... we can pick on the weak Muslims and call them all terrorist, but we have to apologize to a leader who takes away his people's freedom so much they'll face jail time to just talk about it.
Should she have done it no... but should we as a nation have no idea this is going on in China without her doing it HELL NO...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran-Iraq_War
With more than 100,000 Iranian victims[1] of Iraq's chemical and biological weapons during the eight-year war, Iran is, after Japan, one of the world's top afflicted countries by Weapons of Mass Destruction.
The official estimate does not include the civilian population contaminated in bordering towns or the children and relatives of veterans, many of whom have developed blood, lung and skin complications, according to the Organization for Veterans of Iran.
Nerve gas agents killed about 20,000 Iranian soldiers immediately, according to official reports. Of the 90,000 survivors, some 5,000 seek medical treatment regularly and about 1,000 are still hospitalized with severe, chronic conditions. Many others were hit by mustard gas.
Furthermore, 308 Iraqi missiles were launched at population centers inside Iranian cities between 1980 and 1988 resulting in 12,931 casualties.[1]
There is great resentment in Iran that the international community helped Iraq develop its chemical weapons arsenal and armed forces, and also that the world did nothing to punish Iraq for its use of chemical weapons against Iran throughout the war â?? particularly since the US and other western powers later felt obliged to oppose the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and eventually invade Iraq itself to remove Hussein

Breukelen was right, Falun Gong is nothing more than a cult. My mother-in-law, a Chinese citizen living in China, got mixed up with them a while back. I don't know all the details but she got very sick because they told her not to take medication that she needed. She also ended up giving away huge amounts of her life saving, jewelry, etc to the Falun Gong. Eventually my wife and brother-in-law persuaded her to stop following those idiots. Now, several years later, she has absoluetky nothing good to say about them.
Anti-China folks like to point out that China persecutes anyone who is religious. This is absolutely false. Chinese are free to follow any of the established religions. In fact, the most incredible church I've ever seen, architechturally speaking, was in Shanghai. They have no tolerance, however, for weird cults whose activities make one or two people incredibly wealthy while ruining the lives of their followers.
That being said, I don't think the nut job should be charged with anything. She should have been escorted out of the building and nothing more. No need to come up with some riduculous charges just because he embarrassed Dubya. Shit, he does it to himself every time he opens his mouth.

what makes killing one person better than killing another is all I ask... why is it OK for us to kill 350,000 people and yet completly wrong for someone else to kill 10 people? Are we not terrorist as well??

architecture.....main religions are tolerated only as long as they dont threaten the one party state.....as for any kind of trade unions, student unions, democratic forums, political parties, free politcal discourse on tv, radio, newspapers or online - forget it - unless that is you don't mind a lengthy prison stay. You seem to be missing the point slightly by focusing on the negative characteristics of the fulan gong - they are not persecuted in china because of some nanny state attempt to protect the populace from their teachings - but because any anti-CCP sentiment is harshly dealt with...whether that comes from a wacky cult or not.

I have no doubt that the enthusiasm the Chinese govt has for going after the Falun Gong has much to do with the fact that they are so critical of the Chinese govt. but that is similar to the old chicken or the egg deal. Is the Falun Gong presecuted because they are critcal of the govt? Or, are the Falun Gong critcal of the govt because they were persecuted?
I've lived in China and have my own experience with the terribley corrupt govt. Trust me, I've got some stories that Pissy would have a field day with and I have no doubt that my exepriences are just the tip of the iceberg. Still, I have to say that China is terribly misunderstood by most Americans. Our media does a wonderful job of villianizing China by seizing isolated incidents and blowing them out of proportion or taking them out of context. I just try to point them out when I see them.
