I think most cannabis smokers would agree that one of the founding reasons for their habit is the fact that smoking cannabis feels good. Hence it has inherant mental medicinal purposes.

The question needs to be, then; do the social costs of legal marijuana outweigh the benefits? If so, we should keep it illegal.

0 Deaths, and billions of dollars a year spent on enforcement that could instantly be turned into surplus to balance the national debt. I think the benefits outweight the costs. What do you think?
