Lol, the only way I got a free iPod mini was by ordering a new desktop computer. I actually got mine, too ~

While we're on the subject of iPods, does anyone know how to replace its battery without having to pay out my ass for something that can be done for a lot cheaper? It died out on me almost a year after I got it, and I am not ready to pay Apple anymore money Anyone?

No, I only listened to it on long road trips or other random times I had nothing to listen to on the go. It was always plugged in and charging whenever I wasn't using it, so that's why it's kind of pissing me off. I read in Chismaayyy's thread about iPods and saw that I wasn't alone in having mine poop out on me, and saw that some knew how to replace the batteries without having to pay a REDICULOUS fee to Apple for the battery. Also a friend said he replaced his a while back and knew how to do it, so I might ask him.

apparently the shit's pretty easy to replace. a friend of mine smashed his iPod out of anger over a girl (idiot) and my other friend saved it and looked up some shit on ebay and just bought replacement parts and fixed it. there's only like 4 parts to an ipod, but you have to have a special tool to get it open, which you can apparently find on ebay. and if not just google it.

and i know a few people that have gotten these free ipod things to work by making several fake email accounts. the only down side is that you have to use a legit credit card and most offers charge you at least a little something, but still less than buying an actual ipod in the store.
