On screen violence
absolutely not.
I play GTA1/2/3/VC and am getting SA.
Am I going to run around, smash peoples heads in with hammers, samurai swords and go joy riding around the town shooting people up? no.
Same with getaway, manhunt, Full spectrum warrior, Ninja gaiden, Tiberian sun, C&C.
Counter strike, HL.
I play like 95% violent games, other 5% are dangerous in one way or another.
I watch sopranos every week, I watch gangster films and tons of crap like that.
I'm not a violent person at all, I think it doesn't solve anything.
However, I enjoy having the choice in games, you can play GT3 VC, with virtually no violence except certain scenes. Or you can go rampaging like I like to,
Also ghost, you can argue the kid wasn't old enough, IE: he was 17, and his parents bought him the game, the fault was with them.
Thing is, some people can't tell fantasy from real life.
About 5-10 years ago, some kids blinded another kid by throwing paint in their eyes, then tied them down to the railline and he got killed obviously, why? because the kids saw it on "chucky" and "thought he'd get up"
The fault lies with the parents in those cases, and if someone can't tell the difference between reality and fiction, then they really shouldnt be allowed on the streets.
