Ceramics loose their durability over time and tends to heat substances unevenly. The heater on this unit in linear, meaning that you can adjust it anywhere from 140 degrees Celsius to well above 200 so that you can burn hash, resin etc. The glass heating element inside the vapolution actually heats the pyrex glass "whip" part making it all glass on glass. By the way, by portable I meant that you can use it in a car or anywhere there is a cigarette lighter, not put it in a bag portable. Look, the dude wanted a vaporizer that is in the $100 range and is not a piece of shit. So far, this is the only one I have found / used & recommended. By the way I have used the vaporwarez too and it ain't that great and is a little tricky to use. I recommend vapolution as nobody that I've ever talked to that has used it has ever been disappointed. Plus it just plain looks better.
