My school does this (also Houston area). If you refuse to take the test, you are considered to have failed the test. I'm pretty sure Texas schools are pushing this program is becuase they're actually recieving money from the state for doing so (not 100% sure on that though). It's not really a big deal here as they're not testing many students, and it's not really catching anyone. I think only 3-4 people have tested positive for anything all year. At our school, the only thing that even happens to you is being suspended from parking/practice of whatever sport you're in for something like 15 days. I believe it's a total invasion of privacy to drug test students since we're required by law to attend school. The arguemnt is that you're choosing to participate in sports/parking on campus...but it's still a weak arguement against our right to privacy outside of school. The sad part is that invading students privacy is being funding by tax dollars that should be going towards something productive education wise.
