Hey Folks....
I am new to growing, but not smoking. I have not smoked in 14 years because of my job, but I am all signed up to retire on June 1, 2006. And, I cannot wait.
Here is my plan, and please do not be shy offering suggestions. First of all, I am going to purchase seeds from seedboutique.com. I am going to try White Widow first. This is not for cash, this is for moi! So, based on what I have read (which has been a great deal) over the past two weeks, I think I am making a good choice. I have read that Indica is a real good choice for indoor growing.
My plan is to start off with 22 quart food service containers, brand new. I am going to use a sterilized potting soil, and not M-Grow, as I have read that produces results that are not what we are looking for. I intend to add about 1-2 inches of lava rock in the bottom of each container to facilitate draining. I will, of course, drill at minimum 6 holes in the bottom of each container.
As for my area, I have a pretty large house, but I do not want a 60 plant grow going on. I am going to use a bathroom, (I have 4) that nobody ever uses. I plan on using the tub for my grow area. So, by my calculations that should be around ~8 square feet. I also plan on lining the inside walls of the tub enclosure with particle board, covered with Mylar. I am guessing I can plant ~8 plants in that area ??????????
For lighting (and this is what has confused me the most). I am planning on a Gro Lux Rapid Start (red light) for seedlings until I want to flower, and then yank the fluorescent out, and replace with a 430 Watt Son Agro HPS Plant Grow Light. Is this too much ?
For ventilation I have a ceiling fan that I am going to replace with one that moves 410 cfm of air, and it is already ducted to an outside vent. That is not a big deal. I am also going to buy a Sears dehumidifier to control my humidity. As for climate I have central air/heat.
The CO2 generation thing is something I have really been researching, and it seems that is a big bonus in growing. But, it seems bulky, and somewhat a pain in the ass.
I have all my notes ready on the use of nutes, and to introduce slowly, etc. But, I refuse to use bat shit, or anything that closely resembles it to grow my plants.......lol
I know to use distilled water, and I have an RO system on my kitchen sink, so I am good to go. All I need to do is let warm up to room temp from the day before.
All you pros bust my balls, I want to start off with the best I can grow and improve from there. And, as I learn, I will be more than happy to share. I used to hack Direkt TV cards, and mod a site, I know those who read learn the most. And, when they ask questions, they can ask specific questions that someone can answer versus "hey, how do I grow some budā??s?"
